Mr. Otto Miller,
Founder
Shortly following
retirement Otto Miller met Cliff Richardson, a retired pioneer of
the manufactured housing
industry. Together, in 1967, they founded Cliff
Industries and grew to become one of the largest U.S.
producers of modular buildings for business and institutional use. Their Company
was international in scope serving customers throughout the United
States, Canada, Japan and Saudi Arabia.
Otto truly was a pioneer and visionary, and saw a
bright future for factory constructed buildings. He was never
satisfied building simple products. He constantly pushed the
envelope, building the industries most
sophisticated and appealing commercial and institutional structures.
In 1970, Cliff Industries was
sold and Otto remained president until he
again retired in December of 1981.
In January 1983, Otto
Miller came out of retirement - for the second time - and founded
Miller Building
Systems, Inc. (MBSI). Armed with his reputation for exceptional
quality and business ethics,
Otto’s new company experienced explosive growth and success, which caught
the attention of Wall Street firms. In merely three years, by 1986, Miller Building Systems, Inc.
had become a publicly-traded company. Otto Miller finally retired in
1990, and passed away the same year.
In
1999, MILLER BUILDING SYSTEMS, Incorporated first appeared on the
distinguished list
of
FORBES 200 BEST SMALL COMPANIES.
In 2000, Miller
Building Systems, Inc. caught the attention
of publicly-traded
Coachmen Industries (COA). Miller fit perfectly into
their
growth strategy because their
All
American Homes division was the largest U.S. manufacturer of
systems-built modular
homes. Coachmen acquired Miller Building Systems, Inc. in November
2000.
In March 2006, The Warrior Group, Inc, Opus Acquisitions
Group, LLC and Eagle Partners, LLC purchased the COA interest in Miller Building
Systems; thus creating the largest minority owned commercial modular and
telecommunication building manufacturing company in the United States.
Today, over 300 Miller Building Systems employees carry
forward the same sense of commitment and determination inherited from their visionary
founder
25 years
ago.
